We could not have done this book without you. Second, I stand corrected and appreciate the note. I'll make the chapter in my memoir of sorts more accurate.Tony Isabellahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07356415470545816484noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2252129938551938631.post-68051720382976646152016-03-06T15:45:44.611-05:002016-03-06T15:45:44.611-05:00As the guy who edited your Cap novel, I have to sa...As the guy who edited your Cap novel, I have to say that it was slightly more complicated than that with the plot. Steve, the person who approved the text was fine with the outline -- it was his boss who didn't want the racism in the book for reasons passing understanding. (Said boss was also the one who had a coronary when Iceman said, "Oh shit" in our first X-Men book, and from that moment forward all language in the books had to be G-rated.)

However, that same boss didn't have the time to look at the whole manuscript, it was just Steve who read it, and he approved it because HE didn't have any problem with what you wrote. :)

I clarify this for two reasons: 1) Not all license approvals people are created equal. Some are really fantastic. And some suck. And sometimes both work for the same company. 2) It is totally false to say: "We didn’t figure the folks at Marvel would read the finished manuscript. We figured correctly as no manuscript changes were requested." The folks at Marvel DID read the manuscript, as they were contractually obligated to, and if we published the book without someone at Marvel vetting it, we would've been in breach of contract. Also, changes were requested, but they were minor and easily fixed by me. :)

---KRAD
Keith R.A. DeCandidohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02888632340947887676noreply@blogger.com
