I was really happy to see these collections come out.

(For the record, DeCarlo is totally #2 in my books!)Chris Gumprichhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07356161744000819692noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2252129938551938631.post-31782157016511925802013-01-29T07:27:53.137-05:002013-01-29T07:27:53.137-05:00That Ken Shannon story was recently collected in t...That Ken Shannon story was recently collected in the Zombies hardcover by Craig Yoe/IDW. I enjoyed that Ken Shannon story the most in that book and would gladly buy a collected edition of Ken Shannon.Kris Shawhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07459412655631882698noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2252129938551938631.post-5437054049553516222013-01-29T06:47:21.275-05:002013-01-29T06:47:21.275-05:00Take a lawless city without much of a super-hero p...Take a lawless city without much of a super-hero presence, maybe in the USA, maybe in another country. Establish a computer whiz with the means and smarts to command a small army. Fill the team with second-stringers who deserve a chance to shine.

You know who would be awesome as the main character in this? Iron Fist's lawyer friend, Jeryn Hogarth, written in the style of Chris Claremont! Claremont's Hogarth was, quite frankly, lifted whole and breathing from many, many, many Robert A. Heinlein novels: The elderly sage, devoted to his own comfort, who passes on real wisdom about dealing with the real world to a naive hero.

Heinlein's most famous version was Jubal Harshaw in Stranger in a Strange Land, and Claremont's wonderful Heinlein hommage tips his hat with identical initials.

I can so much see the portly Claremont/Byrne Jeryn Hogarth with some computer whiz working for him, taking a few second-string heroes under his wing and guiding them -- especially toward some end goal that he's not necessarily forthcoming about, possibly political, that could give a seemingly ominous subplot, but which would work out to be a Good Thing™, increasing people's freedom and safety. Maybe some of his team being minor villains who he's working to help cross over into the light.

I'd read that book!Jonathan Andrew Sheenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13533106584138186704noreply@blogger.com
