Take a look, if you have not, at Garth Ennis. Especially see his original Crossed work for what is surely a contender for the best characterization and dialogue in the medium. I'd have to park in our towns parking garage and walk several blocks to my destination. If my area was a more friendly place, you can bet I would use it. It's why I made my own library long ago. late night Ferenginoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2252129938551938631.post-74679022143510623622013-11-30T11:26:16.072-05:002013-11-30T11:26:16.072-05:00Ty...I honestly don't remember. I always feel sad when fans tell me their interest in comics doesn't extend past the 60s or the 70s or the 80s...or that they only read super-hero comics...or other limitations. And, though I understand budget considerations, I would also urge you and others to see what you can read through your local library system. I probably read a dozen collections and manga volumes each and every month and the only expense is the gas to drive the under two miles to the library to pick up the books I have requested.Tony Isabellahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07356415470545816484noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2252129938551938631.post-65802564759098621102013-11-29T18:21:01.281-05:002013-11-29T18:21:01.281-05:00Hi Tony,

The only comics I buy are reprints from the 70's and 80's and a few exceptions with the "modern" material. Kingdom Come by Mark Waid and Alex Ross was one of the last sagas I purchased in recent memory. That and all the DC Jack Kirby paperbacks Volumes one through four on the New Gods. The Kamandi I and II hardcovers, The Demon, and Omac: The One Man Army. I love the 70's and think it all went downhill after The Secret Wars Saga.. All my comics buying went to zero with $3.99 cover prices and the $30 paperbacks. If I do buy anything now it's on sale or on clearance. . I simply cannot afford the new material out there and usually wait until the holidays before I see anything I can afford. late night Ferenginoreply@blogger.com
