JULY 11-12 GARAGE SALE UPDATE #3

My next Vast Accumulation of Stuff garage sale will be Friday, July 11 and Saturday, July 12, from 9 am to noon, at 840 Damon Drive in Medina, Ohio. Today, I don't have an update, but some questions.

Among the e-mails and phone calls from people who feel entitled to get special treatment, who feel they should be allowed to come to my garage sale on Thursday night and get first dibs on the many wondrous items for sale at bargain prices, are people who actually can't make it to the garage sales during those morning hours. They don't ask for an early private visit, just for a chance to buy great comics and books.

My first question: Would you be interested in coming to an early evening garage sale which would run on Saturday, Sunday or Monday night from 6 pm to 8 pm?

My second question: If you answered "yes," which of those three days would you prefer?

I'm serious above giving this a chance as early as July 19, 20 or 21. Please comment on this blog - posts have to be approved before they appear, so don't panic - or email me with your answers.

My third and final question of the day started as a joke. I quipped that I was so sad I couldn't go to Comic-Con this year that I was thinking of having a panel at my garage sales that weekend.  Then - thinking is dangerous - I wondered if I could do such a thing.

My third question: If I held a panel after either my Friday or Saturday garage sale of July 25-26, would you be interested in attending?

We're talking a table set up in my driveway and chairs. (You might have to bring your own.) I think I might be able to rope in a couple of area comics pros who aren't going to Comic-Con either. It is, admittedly, a crazy notion. Are you willing to roll with the crazy?

That's all for now. See you at the garage sale.

  1. Gosh. I can't make it, he said first so as not to bury the lead, but I'd sure get a kick out of such a thing. Ever since you began these garage sales I've wished I could drive out just to shoot the breeze (while taking advantage of some bargains, of course); guest appearances from, say, Bob Ingersoll and Tom Batiuk would sweeten the deal even further. Unfortunately, I really can't plan that kind of thing in advance these days, and that kind of thing usually has to be planned in advance, never mind the cost of gas, a hotel for the night, and some stuff from your vast accumulation. Maybe next year, if things look better all around.
